The Jubilee Gardens of Bewdley, Worcestershire, was home to this fantastic project which transformed an overgrown wooded area into something wonderful for the whole community to enjoy.
One of the main attractions of this new orchard is a natural play area which contains one-off games sculptures which have been designed and made especially for the space. Games include a chequers board, shove half-penny, noughts and crosses and a new game called plum it, as well as a giant apple core, reaching well over 6ft tall. All of the sculptures are made from local oak and sweet chestnut and other natural materials. It is the first natural play area of its type in the Midlands. All the play sculptures, created by Woodland Ways and a local wildlife artist, have been designed for youngsters to play and climb on but will appeal to everyone.
Children from local schools helped by planting over 80 trees in the orchard and creating their own plaques giving all of the children a sense of ownership encouraging them to look after the orchard for future generations to enjoy.

Foundation Unit is all about learning through creative play, this delightful film lets children share their world.
We wanted to find a creative way to enable early years children to show parents and carers all about the creative learning experiences they have on a daily basis attending their foundation unit. We think this film achieves that, it’s simple and demonstrates that the best way to learn is to ‘let the children play!’
