Hurst Hill Primary School in Sedgley has opened it’s very own art exhibition inspired by the abstract work of Jackson Pollock. The school community came together for a family art workshop and got busy being creative to produce some stunning works of art which are now on display within the school.
The short film above shows how the families became artists for the day and had lots of fun in the process.
Engaged children enjoy learning and exceed all expectations in the process. Year One children began to explore different learning styles and used poetry to ignite their minds.
It was World Food Day on October 16th and after we installed a unique kitchen at Kingsland Primary School over the summer holidays we took the opportunity to officially open it. We transformed a corridor space used for storage into a new cooking area for the whole school to enjoy. With 2 ovens, 2 induction hobs, a fridge, a microwave and sink area they certainly have all the equipment needed to cook up a masterpiece and a class from Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 were the first to do just that, making a tasty vegetable soup and some delicious cookies.


We also helped to create Elsa, a chef character, who the kitchen is named after and also her recipe cards so parents and children can download the instructions from the school website to make them at home.

Playing with sculpture and scale helped children think big and produce inspired creative writing. We looked at where ideas come from and how imagination underpins learning and what this looks like on a human face with questions such as ‘what does learning look like and what emotions do we feel when we are learning?
The children created miniature clay sculptures based on emotional expression and then using simple digital tools made them look massive, they wrote great descriptive narrative based on their ideas and this short film illustrates how thinking big inspires great learning and impressive results.

187 is a visitor from Mars who dropped into Kingsland Primary School and inspired a whole school community. Her shy, friendly nature captivated the children who were very keen to help her return home and made national news in the process.

Last week, Kingsland Primary discovered a crashed unidentified flying object in their school grounds. The whole school community are still coming to terms with the incident but attentions have now focused on the location of the pilot. Nobody knows of his, her or it’s whereabouts and pupils are eagerly keeping their eyes peeled for a possible new visitor to the school.
There are already unconfirmed sightings of a child-like creature divulging on fast food by the crash site but these reports are yet to be verified. The government have stressed that there is no initial cause for alarm but have urged anyone to come forward immediately if they see or hear of anything strange or suspicious…
