George Betts Primary Academy
The Mystical Woodland World Book Day Launch
The children of George Betts Primary Academy celebrated World Book Day with a very special contribution from their parents. The Mystical Woodland, a story created by the children as part of a whole school curriculum enrichment project, has been translated by parents and published in 12 languages so everyone in the school community can enjoy it.
The book for young children was launched with a live performance of the story acted out by children from Year 2. The story was read in English with the Russian translation read out by parent translator Ilona Puzirevska. All parents who translated the story were given a published copy of the book in their own language for them to read at home with their families.
World Book Day is a worldwide celebration of books and reading and marked in over 100 countries all over the world, it was wonderful for us to work with parents to enable them to enjoy reading the story in their own community language as part of the celebrations, and demonstrates our commitment to global citizenship and family engagement.
The books are available to download in all 12 languages from our website.
